Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This month has been a wonderful month with many wonderful moments in our ministry. We pray and hope you all have had a wonderful month also.
We are working more and more to help our members work together and have more fellowship. Since everyone lives far away from each other it is great to have fellowship. This week a lady in our church wanted to have a thanksgiving dinner and service. We had the service. A husband who also went wanted to have a surprise happy birthday for his wife. The time together was wonderful.
There is a man who has a tourist business. Every year at the end of the season he has a thanksgiving service with all his workers and their families. He invites us every year. We always try to go. It is a wonderful time of fellowship. What is so wonderful also is that the pastor of the church there is fruit of Baptist Faith Missions. The first pastor there was Bro. Hatcher and the father of the pastor who is there now. One of the ladies who was there was saved when Bro. Hatcher was preaching. God continues blessing BFM. May this ministry continue reaching lost souls.
This Sunday we did something totally different with the Sunday school group. We had Sunday School at our house. We have lakes that have fish. So, we had our study by one of them and everyone went to the lake to fish for their lunch. Everyone had fun and caught enough fish for lunch. Then we went and prepared lunch. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the time for fellowship. Kathy and I thank God for this land we live on and the area that can be used for fellowship with others.
The camp we are building is coming along. We already have three buildings covered. We can already use it for a day together. As we can, we will close the building to have camp.
We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. God continues to bless our lives and ministry and giving us wisdom and strength each day.
Love in Christ our Savior,
Odali and Kathy Barros

Blessed with Music in Ubim

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We have had a blessed month, praise the Lord. We had a couple to visit the church and, as we were talking, found out that their grandpa worked with Bro. John Hatcher in the ministry in Manaus. Now this couple is helping us in two places. He plays several instruments. What a blessing. They have been a great blessing at the village of Ubim. They live close to the village. Now we have music when we sing.
We are also working on reaching a couple we met with the fish market. The wife is a Christian and the husband is a dedicated catholic. We have them over to our house every once in while to make friends with them. I invited him to church this weekend. He said, “One of these days I’ll go.” They came to our home and fixed lunch for us. Pray for them: Rocha and his wife Josi.
Also, the family that lives here with us are doing well. The wife has many struggles with her past. Especially drugs. Pray for her. Kathy talks to her as opportunities open for a good conversation. They are a great family, and their children are very special. We take them fishing and do as much as we can to spend time with them.
Our plans for the next month are to have more pizza days. Now that the water has gone down enough, we will be able to have the pizza day at the Indian village at Ubim.
Next week is the last Sunday for the training classes we have had. Now we will be putting the training to practice. Pray that God works in the heart of the members, that each one will find an area to serve in the different ministries in the church. We want to start Sunday School Classes and more services in the homes.
We want to thank each of you for the prayers and support. May God bless each of you.
In Christ,
Odali and Kathy

Using a Home to Reach People

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We hope and pray that you all are doing well. We are doing well, thank God. The virus was in our area and even some people from our church got it this time. Until last month, things had been pretty calm around our area. Thank God, this week things have calmed down. We canceled the church services for a few weeks. This week we were able to have service again. We just asked each one to be careful and used the mask.
This last year we took on a missionary from here in Manaus who went to the state of Maranhão. Many of you helped brother John Hatcher and Brother George Bean who also started works there. We are happy to help a Brazilian pastor that has given his life to missions. For several years, the pastor Francisco helped in one of our mission points, the one in the community of Multirão. May God continue to guide and bless him and his family.
The training we are doing at the church is going well. We are trying to prepare more leaders for the different communities we go to—that way, we can reach more people. Pray that God will help us more and more each day with wisdom and strength.
Our home has been used to reach people for over 32 years. Paulinho, one of the first boys we got 32 years ago, was here to visit us this week. We have always had someone in our home. Right now, we have 3 boys that live with us. We also are helping 3 men that did a recovery treatment for drug from a project called “Projeto Vida” (Project Life). They work with men with drug and alcohol problems. We pray that we can help these people look to God and know how much He loves them and gave His life for them.
Kathy is in the United State for a while to care for her father. Paul had to have surgery. While she cares for him, she has some time with her brothers.
Thanks for your prayers and support. May God bless each one of you!
Love in Christ,
Odali and Kathy

Fishing for Fish—and Fishing for Men

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Greetings from the Barros family! We pray and hope that all is well with each church and each family. Things are well with us and the work here. Things are getting back to normal, but at the same time, taking care of our health and those around us. There have been several cases in the last few weeks of people with COVID around our community. Some from our church. Thank God none have been very serious.
This time of year is a specialty time for fishing. I have been able to take several men to fish and to have some fellowship and to also witness to men that are not saved. This is a way to reach many men around here. God has provided us with a boat and a motor. Also, we have been able to give fish to those who need it and also to pastors and some of their people in need. Last week we took fish to a group that works with Indians, Venezuelans, and an orphanage. This has been a great blessing. Last night I preached at one of these churches we have helped with fish. We were able to take some fish to them yesterday. Thank God for these opportunities! Continue to pray as we serve in this way.
Thank God the work at Iranduba is doing great. A pastor and his family have taken over the work and they are being blessed. The kids program is growing and adults are being reached. They live in the city there which is great for having more contact with the people.

The work in the community of Ubim is back to normal. The number of kids is back to normal with an average of 55-60. Last year we had some tee-shirts made for the kids to use. We would like to make some new ones. If you would like to help, Kathy would be thankful! The cost is 5 dollars per shirt.
That mother church “Pedras Vivas” is doing well. Pretty much back to normal. The special work we are doing on Sunday morning is going great. The studies are great and the music classes are really wonderful. The Lord willing, soon there will be several people ready to play and help in the worship. Since everything here is so far away it is hard for people to have music classes. That is why we try to provide this through the church ministry!
This last week was Children’s Day here in Brasil so today we are going to have a pizza day at Ubim and give the kids some gifts. They are looking forward to today.

Pray for these communities! They don’t have much going on for them to do but the drug dealers are everywhere. Our prayers are that we show them Christ and His love and sacrifice for us! That is the chance they will have for a different life!
God bless each of you! Thanks for your prayers and support!
Love in Christ,
Odali and Kathy
