Dear brothers and sisters,
We pray and hope that all of you are well. This year has been wonderful after so many hard years with the virus. This year, we were able to do much more amongst the people in our communities.
The work on the building of Cacau is coming along. We covered the building, which will help to be able to work inside and get more things done since this is rainy season. Soon the building will be ready so we can reach out to the people in that town. There are so many children there and we want to do special work with the children to reach out and bring them to church, which is a wonderful ministry. The children really need help because there are tons of drugs around but very few ministries. Pray that God will help us to reach out and have more people to join us from the church in this ministry. Thank you for your support and prayer.
Working on the camp is harder since it’s raining right now, but we are getting things ready when there’s a little bit more sun to be able to work there too.
At the mother church, Pedras Vivas, we’ve had many new people coming in and it looks like we’re going to be having more people to help with the ministry. One of the things that we’ve been doing to help people meet each other is that on Sundays, we have been having get-together dinners and lunches, which has really been exciting.
This week we will be starting a new group of visitation to bring people to the church and if they need transportation, we will be using the bus to bring them to church. The area we will be reaching is around 30 miles, most of which is on the highway. The bus will be coming by the village of Ubim also and those from there can come on the bus if they want to.
Thanks for your prayers and support! God bless each of you!

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We thank God that all things are doing well here. We pray that all is going well with each of you that are part of our ministry.
The ministry is going well. Kathy and some other adults at the Pedras Vivas Church have started the youth ministry. It had been stopped for quite a while. They are enjoying the time together, and the time to learn to play some instruments and sing. We hope to get the teens more involved in the church ministries. We also hope to get more adults involved. Pray that the Lord will touch the hearts of some to want to help in the different ministries.
The remodeling of the Church of Cacau is coming along. We hope it will be finished soon. Also, the camp is coming along and we are hoping that soon, we can use it at least for a day camp.
We are excited about new families that are coming to the church. Some are Christians that are wanting to get involved in the church ministries. The services in the homes are still doing well. Many times, we get together and eat and then have a Bible Study. Pray with us that God opens more homes. Since we have moved here to where we live, the amount of people moving to this area has really increased.
Thanks for all your prayers and support. May God bless each of you.
Love in Christ,
Odali and Kathy

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We thank our Lord for the blessed month we have had. We pray and hope that each of you have had a wonderful, blessed month. We thank each of you for your faithfulness in your support and prayers. May God continue blessing each of you. This month has been really great. We are working with the youth and kids and helping them learn to sing and what instruments they want to learn. Pray that God will help those who are learning to work with these kids and teens. Kathy is working with them at the mother church and at Ubim. Pray that this will encourage them to grow and use their talents for the Lord.
We are looking at some other places we may possibly start having services in the homes. Please pray that God will lead us and open these homes.
The work of the remodeling of the Cacau church is coming along and the construction of the camp also. The Lord willing, soon we will be able to use both places.
Once again thanks so much for your prayers and support.
In Christ,
Odali and Kathy Barros

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Hope all are doing well. We are doing well thanks to our Lord. Things are going well with our building and remodeling. The work at the camp is coming along, and the remodeling of the church building at Cacau is coming along. We are taking advantage of the dry season.
The special day we had with the couples fishing was great. Everyone had a great time and we had safety on the river. The day we had a special dinner to bring lost friends or friends that needed to find a church to go to also went well. It was a great dinner. We had a short devotion about salvation before the dinner. It was great!
Now we are working on getting more people involved in the church with the children and teens. It has been great to see several getting interested. They are planning a special day for the teens. Pray that God will help them see how important it is to help these teens. The world offers so many things that turn them from God. We need to help them live in this world and focus on our Savior.
The work in Ubim is growing. The couple that works there with Kathy are teaching the kids different instruments and to sing. Soon we plan on starting regular services. The couple that is helping lives close to the village.
Thanks for your prayers and support. May God give each of us wisdom and strength to do His will!
Love in our Lord Jesus Christ,
Odali and Kathy Barros

26 Mile Hike to Remote Tribe

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We pray and hope that all are doing well and blessed by our Lord and Savior Jesus. We are doing well, thanks to God. We want to thank each one of you for your prayers and support. You are an important part of our ministry.
My trip with my son Zinho was wonderful. Quite an experience! Just to get to the tribe was very hard. We walked 43 kilometers (26.7 miles). But God was wonderful and gave us strength. The people of the tribe plan on making the path a little wider so they can use a 4-wheeler to help carry things to the tribe and when there are people sick, they can bring them to go to the city for help. We plan on helping them with that. One of the things needed is to buy 2 chainsaws to help them widen the path.
Now that I’m back, we will get back to working at the camp building and the work at the church building at Cacau. The Lord willing, we should be able to get more done since it is not raining as much.
We are planning on having a special day on the river fishing for the couples in the church. We are also planning a festival at the church. The Lord willing, all will go well and be a blessing and will be a way to reach out to those near us to share God’s love and His salvation.
Thanks for your prayers and support!
God bless each one of you!
Love in Christ,
Odali and Kathy

On the Way to a Tribe in Cruzeiro do Sul

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The year is passing so fast that it is hard to believe July is gone. We pray and hope that all are well and blessed. We are doing well and blessed by God through each of your prayers and support. We have had the privilege of having some friends from Kentucky visiting us. It’s been wonderful. One of the ladies, Jennifer, used to work with us at Alpha and Omega in Garça. We have visited different places and shown where we have ministries.
Also, me and my son Joshua, mostly known as “Zinho”, are on our way to a tribe in Cruzeiro do Sul. We will be walking in the forest for 43 kilometers (26.7 miles). The chief of the tribe is a Baptist pastor. His son is from Mike Creiglow’s church.
Now that is raining less, we will be able to work more on the camp buildings and also work on the remodeling of the church in the village of Cacau Pereira. We hope and pray we can get a lot done and finished so we can use both places.
We had lots of problems with our cars but looks like the problems are getting solved. Praise the Lord. Living out where we live is difficult without a car. Also, we take several people to church. Pray that the cars will continue working so we can use them in the ministry.
Thanks to each one of you that are part of the ministry through prayers and support.
God bless you!
Love in Christ,
Odali & Kathy

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Hope that all of you are doing well. We are doing well. There have been lots of people with cold symptoms and lots of coughing. Thank God I am doing much better with the home remedies I have been using.
The works are doing well. The ministry in the village of Ubim is doing well. The couple that is working there is training the teens to play different instruments and to sing. It is really a blessing to see the work growing. We plan soon to have services on Sunday now that we have the couple to help. Pray for the couple as they will soon have their baby. Their names are Carol and Lucas.
Also, we have started to remodel the church of Cacau Pereira. The last 2 years the water came up high and flooded the church building, so we are raising the floor and the roof structure.
The services in the homes are doing well. We will increase the services in the homes as needed.
Now that things have calmed down with the COVID we plan on starting back the festivals we used to have. We are planning one in August.
The camp that we are working on is coming along. We have cleared the are where we are going to build. We have started the first building. We are excited about having the camp.
Thank you for the prayers and support that each one of you have done for the ministry. God bless you all!
Love in Christ our Savior,
Odali and Kathy Barros

The Influence of My Mother on My Own Mothering & Ministry

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Hope and pray that the mothers will have a wonderful day and that God will fill each one with His love and wisdom.
Every day as I pray, I always thank God for my mother and the wonderful example she was as a mother and also as a servant of the Lord. So many things in my life as a mother and missionary have been greatly influenced by her example. I remember as a young kid doing visitation and witnessing with my mom. Today, that is a great part of my ministry. Also, having worked for so many years with kids and teens with problems, the Lord has helped me to use that experience helping people here in our new ministry.
My prayer and desire is to help the young people and the parents to not give up, but to seek the Lord each day and ask for wisdom. The enemy is in the world working overtime to distract this generation. As the Lord’s return gets closer, things get worse. That what God has told us in His word. May God richly bless each one of you and that we may reach out to all those God leads us to.
In Christ,
Kathy Barros
