Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We praise the Lord for all the blessings and for each of you for your prayers and support. We pray that all of you are doing well. The ministries here are doing well. Last week Kathy and I went to visit the mission point of the community of Multirão. It was wonderful to see the work the team has done there. It was wonderful to see some who were kids, who now are teens, and are helping with the children. We are going to have a pizza day there.
The work in Ubim is also growing. It is wonderful now that we have a couple that lives closer who can help. They are doing Bible Study for those who have accepted Christ. They are also teaching some teens different instruments. Pray for these ministries as the teens grow in age, and also in the Lord, that they can help in the ministry.
We are excited about getting our camp buildings started. The rain is slowing down, which makes the work easier. Also, we are thankful for the financial help that has been given. God bless those who have given.
The mother church has been working on the wall around the church. A group has enjoyed getting together and doing the work. A wonderful time of fellowship and service. Even the ladies have helped fixing the food for everyone to eat together.
The building in the village of Ariau should be solved in the next few weeks. But as we wait, we are meeting some of the people that used to go to the church there.
Please continue to pray that God will help us get others involved in the ministries so we reach more people in more places.
Thanks for your prayers and support! God bless each of you.
Love in our Savior,
Odali and Kathy Barros

Praying about Purchasing a Church Building

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are thankful to God for the partners we have in our ministry. Each one of you are a blessing.
Things here continue doing well. We have had services in several places. There are possibilities for other places. One of the places is the village of Ariau. In this village there was a Baptist church but for some reason they closed. The building is for sale for $6,000. We are interested in having a ministry there. Pray with us about this building. We are going to meet with the person responsible for the sale.
At the Church in Ubim, we would like to put tile on the floor. It is concrete and hard to keep clean. If any of you are interested, we would appreciate any financial help. We are already checking on the prices of the tile to find the best price. Here the tile is sold by square meter. The average price we have found is around $10.00 per square meter.
We are planning a camp this month. With all the COVID problems we have not had camp. The kids are excited about the camp. We are using a place that belongs to a friend, but our plans are to have a camp of our own to use any time we want. We have the place. We are working on getting the area ready to build dorms and an area for a kitchen. Pray with us about this also that God will provide the means.
Thanks for your love, prayers and support. God bless each of you.

Everyone Helping in Church Building Project

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are thankful to our Lord for all the things He has blessed us with. The beginning of the new year is going well. We are working to get more people involved in the church and ministries. The couple that is helping at the village of Ubim is doing great. The church had a bus that was not being used. So, the couple is bringing the people from Ubim to the mother church once or twice a week. The teens there have enjoyed coming.
This month the main church is working on building a wall around the church. We are doing it as a church group project. Everyone is helping as they can: cooking, digging, mixing concrete, or carrying bricks.
The only problems that we have had are our cars. They love the mechanic’s shop. We pray that this time they will get fixed. We found a new mechanic that is very careful with his work. Pray that all will go well. Kathy has planned some visits with some of the women of the church but has not been able to go. Since there is not cellphone signal everywhere here, it is dangerous to be on the roads.
Another project we have is a camp to have to use for the ministry. In these villages, there is nothing for the kids to do, but lots of drugs. So, we want to build a camp where we can have lots of activities for the kids, teens, and adults. We have started cleaning the area and opening the area to build the dorms. Pray with us that all goes as God has planned for us.
Thanks for all your love and support. God bless each of you!

Blessings in December

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Hope that all of you have had a blessed year. God has been wonderful and things here are going well. The year went by so fast. It’s hard to believe it is December. God gave us the opportunity to visit our children in the USA. We are thankful for the people that God prepared to help with the works here while we are traveling. The new couple that is helping in the village of Ubim has really been a blessing. They are getting more and more involved with the youth. They are giving music classes to those teens that are interested. At the mother church, we are trying to reach out to the areas that have no churches nearby. Pray that God will guide us and open more doors. Also, for next year, we plan on doing some river ministry. Pray that God will direct us and send the help we will need.
When we arrived in the United States, our son Zinho picked us up in Florida. On our way up to Evansville, we realized we would be going by Lexington at the time of Sunday School. So, we decided to make a surprise for our dear friend, Pastor Steve Wainright, and his members. What a wonderful moment. We would love to see more people, but our trip is short.
The time we are having with our children and grandkids has been wonderful.
God bless each of you dear friends and supporters.
Love in Christ,
Odali and Kathy

Saturday Night Services in Ubim

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Thank God we are doing well, and things are calm. We pray that all is well with our dear friends and supporters. There is news that the COVID is back and increasing, but here in our area things are calm. Thank God!
Now that our seminars for leaders are complete, we are starting back Sunday school for the children. Getting more members involved. We also plan on visiting a village not far from the church to bring people on the bus.
Our services in homes are doing well. Our plan for the next year is to reach out more and get more people involved. At the village of Ubim, we started having services on Saturday night. Several of the musicians from the church are going and helping with the music. Pray that we can reach more adults and that the youth who have been coming for several years can get more involved. This village has lots of young people and young adults. We pray that God will send a couple who would live there. There is so much that can be done.
Thank God we were able to drill a well for the church. We were using the neighbor’s. We want to ask for your prayers for what we would like to do in the near future. We would like to have a river ministry to go to the people who can only be reached by boat. This was the ministry that Bro. Hatcher and Bro. Bratcher did a lot in this area. These are continuing fruits of the labors of their ministry. We would love to continue this ministry. We are praying what would be best: to buy a boat or rent one. Pray that God will lead us to what would be best.
Thank each of you for your prayers and support! God bless each of you!
Love in Christ,
Odali and Kathy

Children’s Day Outreach

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Hope all is well with your family and churches. We are all doing well—praise the Lord. This month we had a wonderful experience with our church. We have been doing training and encouraging for the work and ministries in the church. We are trying to get more and more of the members involved. October 12th is Children’s Day here in Brazil. So, we planned a special day for them. It was great to see the members get involved. We had special kids’ music, puppets, games, and a trampoline outside for them. Also, we had hotdogs, popcorn and popsicles. Everyone had fun. We brought the kids from the village of Ubim. There was around 55 that came.
Pray for the village of Ubim as we are working to reach more adults. We have a couple that lives near that are helping us there. It has been wonderful having them. We are already planning to new places to have pizza day. Both of these places have to be done while the water is low. Because when the water is high there is no access to the villages. Now that the water is low it is good fishing time. We take advantage of the time and take different people to spend time with them. Through this we have been working with 2 that have problems with drugs. Today I took the drug dealer that lives near us. I got to talk to talk to him. I asked him not to sell drugs to the mother of the kids that lives here with us. Also, we asked if we could take his daughter to Sunday School. He said we could take her. Please pray for them and for us as we reach out to help them and to show them God’s love and salvation.
Love in Christ,
Odali and Kathy

Blessed with Music in Ubim

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We have had a blessed month, praise the Lord. We had a couple to visit the church and, as we were talking, found out that their grandpa worked with Bro. John Hatcher in the ministry in Manaus. Now this couple is helping us in two places. He plays several instruments. What a blessing. They have been a great blessing at the village of Ubim. They live close to the village. Now we have music when we sing.
We are also working on reaching a couple we met with the fish market. The wife is a Christian and the husband is a dedicated catholic. We have them over to our house every once in while to make friends with them. I invited him to church this weekend. He said, “One of these days I’ll go.” They came to our home and fixed lunch for us. Pray for them: Rocha and his wife Josi.
Also, the family that lives here with us are doing well. The wife has many struggles with her past. Especially drugs. Pray for her. Kathy talks to her as opportunities open for a good conversation. They are a great family, and their children are very special. We take them fishing and do as much as we can to spend time with them.
Our plans for the next month are to have more pizza days. Now that the water has gone down enough, we will be able to have the pizza day at the Indian village at Ubim.
Next week is the last Sunday for the training classes we have had. Now we will be putting the training to practice. Pray that God works in the heart of the members, that each one will find an area to serve in the different ministries in the church. We want to start Sunday School Classes and more services in the homes.
We want to thank each of you for the prayers and support. May God bless each of you.
In Christ,
Odali and Kathy

10 Baptized and Prayers Answered

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Greetings to all our family in Christ and supporters. We pray and hope that all are doing well and blessed. We are doing great. We have had a wonderful month. Thank God that things have calmed down and we have been able to have several activities.
We had our first pizza day in the village of Ubim. We were there morning and afternoon. We enjoyed the day and so did the students. We are going to have a pizza day in the Indian village there in Ubim also. We are contacting other school in communities near us to have pizza day. We want to thank all those who have donated to this project.
We also had baptism day at our church, Pedras Vivas. Since everyone lives far away here, when we have baptism, we make it a day of fellowship. Last month we asked prayer for a family that came to live here at our place. Well, God is working!!!! Thanks for your prayers! The father and the 3 sons accepted Christ and were baptized. Also, three from Ubim were baptized. Cleomar, the teen who lives with us, was also baptized, and Gabriel, the other teen that is always at our home. Thank God for these 10 that were baptized. Pray for them!
Pray for us as we want to reach out into the communities, that God will open the doors. Also, that God will touch the lives of the members to help more and more in these projects.
Love in Christ,
Odali and Kathy
