Outreach Festival at Main Church, Growth in Iranduba & Multirão

Odali and Kathy Barros served the Lord in Sao Paulo, Brazil together from 1987-2013. In late 2013, they transitioned to Manaus in Northern Brazil to start sharing the Gospel and planting churches in villages along the river.

Greetings to all our friends and supporters!

Hope you all are doing well and rejoicing in the Lord. We are doing great.

We have had great things happening in our different missions. Here at the main church we have had great blessings. We planned an outreach festival. The area here is rural, so we asked the members to bring friends that were not church members—and especially lots of people. We started planning for 150, but, as time went on, we realized that people were really getting excited and that we better plan for more people. Good thing we did! We had 300 hundred come. It was exciting! We had the youth group from the mission in Iranduba do a skit and then I spoke. It was great! Last Sunday we had a family that came as a result.

At the mission in Iranduba we have started a new program for the youth to reach out to lost youth in their community. They are really excited. It’s called “Missiom” Rescue.

The mission at the community of Multirão is doing well. We are training a team to work here. They are doing well and keeping the number of people and visiting. The mission at Ubim is doing great and growing. The families where we have been having services have been so gracious, but with the growing number we are limited. We are praying and looking for God to show us a place to buy and or build.

Also the mission at Iranduba, we need to look for a place to buy land to build. The place we meet is rented and really is not cheap for the size it is. And we don’t have any class space.  Please pray that God will direct us to some good deals and good locations.

We praise God for all of you that have faithfully supported our ministry. God bless each of you tremendously!

Love,
Odali & Kathy

Missionary Update: Philip & Amanda Hatcher for John Mark & Judy in France [March 2016]

Philip, Amanda, and their four daughters.

Philip and Amanda Hatcher for
John and Judy Hatcher

March 1, 2016

Hello from Plaisance-du-Touch!

As John and Judy are currently in Florida with John’s parents, we’re taking the opportunity to share with you where we see God working. As a family with 4 girls in grades 5 through 9, much of our activity is centered around young people.

We continue to be encouraged by the level of enthusiasm of the teenagers who come to our monthly youth evenings (attached picture). We usually have somewhere between 12-15 kids and the majority of them come from unchurched families. Their active participation during the Bible study shows a real hunger for the truth. Please pray with us for the salvation of these friends and classmates of our daughters.

Amanda has been leading a Bible study for college-aged girls from our church. Since November, they have already finished the book of James and are into 1 Peter. We’re very excited to see their interest and commitment to studying the Bible during this very busy time in their lives.

Besides these regularly scheduled ministries, we also have numerous unscheduled opportunities to touch the lives of the families around us. Amanda’s piano students come and go every week. We often have extra kids in our home during the lunch break from school, (which is 2 hours and 15 minutes!) and a young neighbor surprised her mother when she started praying at meals. Hosting study sessions for school projects is a great way to build bridges with middle-schoolers. God has even used our dog and a sprained ankle to deepen our relationship with the family who lives behind us.

This is our daily prayer – that we may live such good lives among our neighbors and friends, that they may see our good deeds and glorify God on the day He visits us.

Encouraged in France,
Philip and Amanda,
Abigail, Nathalie, Camille and Emily

Missionary Update: John Mark & Judy Hatcher in France [March 2013]

Missionaries John Mark and Judy Hatcher have been serving the Lord in Tournefeuille, France since 1999. They define their ministry as “disciple-making,”

February 26, 2013

Dear Fellow Team Members,

We are grateful for the privilege God gives us to be bearers of the the Good News to folks that live in Southern France as well as in other parts of the world. The four weeks since we last wrote to you have gone by quickly, but we have seen God at work.

On February 9, we had “young people’s evening in our home”. It seems that the quality of these meetings has continued to improve and the young people who come are attentive and are always interested in the date for the next meeting. Of the young folks who come, only one, has made a public profession of faith and followed the Lord in baptism. The passage we considered two weeks ago included “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” This is certainly the invitation of the Gospel for those who are lost as well as a reminder for those of us who are God’s children.

One of the many towns near us that need the Gospel.

Our oldest granddaughter brought a neighbor friend who had not previously been to a youth night. One the way home, this friend was so excited about the evening that she could hardly wait to tell her brother about it and invite him for the next time.

This past Sunday, one of the teen age girls who attends with her family brought a friend. Last Tuesday in Mazere, a young man, father of three, came for the first time and was quite attentive. He was brought by a couple who have participated with us in this Bible study from the time it was first implemented. We are encouraged by the desire the believers have to share their faith and introduce others to Christ.

This past Saturday, we had a pot luck dinner to conclude a three week Bible reading adventure. The purpose of this adventure was to encourage believers to grow in knowledge of God through the study of His Word. We chose key passages (one to four chapters per day) to be read daily. These covered the historical periods from Abraham to Nehemiah. Fourteen people read together and we discussed what they had learned during the dinner. Those who were involved testified that it was a great blessing to them. We want to do something similar several times during the coming year. This should help emphasize how important it is for God’s children to “know the scriptures” and to “study to show themselves approved”. One lady, who, was not involved this time, asked me Sunday, “When are we going to do this again?”

The Lord has recently given several good openings with neighbors and acquaintances. We would like for all of these and many others to be saved. Thank you for your faithful support which enables us to be here to communicate the Good News.

City of Mazere – We have Bible study near upper right hand corner.
