Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Pray that all are doing well and blessed by our Lord and Savior. We are doing well thanks to our Lord. We thank each of you for your prayers and support. You are an important part of the ministry.
We have had many blessings. The prayer program we mentioned in our last letter has been really great. More and more of the members are getting involved. We have had more visitors coming to the church. We are encouraging the members to get involved in different ministries in the church. Several of the youth are helping Kathy with the kids’ program at the village of Ubim. Last week was kids’ days here in Brasil. The group put together a party for the kids. Also, a friend of one of the youth donated toys for the kids. We had 60 kids. The party was great. Then at the mother church we had a party on Sunday night. They had a great time. Two of the ladies at the church and 2 teenagers planned the party.
The last few months we have had lots of problems with our cars. Thank God, we are getting them fixed and working.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We want to thank all those who support our ministry through your prayers and support. May God bless each of you.
The ministries are doing well. The ministry of Ubim has been blessed with new workers. They are doing great and enjoying the ministry. They are being a wonderful blessing.
They are planning a special day for children day in October. It is so wonderful to see young people getting involved.
We started a new thing at the Pedras Vivas Church where I pastor. We put the names of each family on a paper, then each family picks out a name to pray for during the week. This month we did this a little different. Two family names were picked out for them to pray for each other and get to have fellowship and know each other better. The families are really enjoying this. We pray that it well help them to encourage each other.
We are also planning baptism in the new baptistry.
We are encouraging the members to visit the people who live in the area they live in. Make friends and invite them to church. May God help us to reach out to more people. Since so many people live far from the church and many don’t have transportation, we want to start using the bus again. Pray with us that God will give us a driver willing to do this ministry.
Love in our Savior,
Odali and Kathy Barros

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We pray and hope that all is well with each one of you. We are doing well, thanks to our Lord and Savior.
We are excited that we are being able to start back the remodeling of the church in the village of Cacau. We want to do as much as possible on the part that is on the outside while it is not raining so we can start using the church building again. Also, we are excited about the camp. With the help with finances, we are going to be able to get more accomplished.
This month is Father’s Day in Brazil. The ladies and the teens had a celebration for the fathers. It was a great time together.
The Lord has put men in our ministry who had problems with drugs. They are really nice guys and really good and enjoy helping with what they can. One helps in the ministry of Ubim and has been a great help. The other helps here at our house and does anything that is needed. Please pray for them. They really want to change their life and serve God.
Kathy and other ladies in the church are working with the youth in working with children and in the music ministry. Pray that they will encourage them to serve God more.
Thanks for your prayers and support. God bless each one of you and the churches that support us. You are an important part of the ministry.
Love in Christ,
Odali and Kathy Barros

First Teenager Helped by A&O Home Shares Testimony with Ubim Kids & Church

Dear brothers and sisters,
Time is flying so fast it’s hard to believe it is July already. We hope and pray that each church and all our friends who pray and support us are doing well. We are doing great and are being blessed by our Lord with His wisdom in our life.
We have gone back to helping one of the missions that was being taken care of by a group. The leader moved, but thank God, three of the ladies who helped with the teens and children are still helping! So, we go there to preach. They do a great job.
We were blessed this month with two visits. One was Debbie who used to go to the Alpha and Omega Home. She wanted to visit where we live and work now. She came with a friend and we had a great time. Also, the first teenager we helped when we started the home came with his family. He is now a lawyer and takes care of the music ministry in Garça. We have had a fantastic time. He gave his testimony at the church about how God changed his life from a drug kid to serving God. We were glad he gave his testimony because there are lots of drugs in the communities where we work. For those of you who help in this ministry, that is a blessing for you also.
Sunday for lunch, we had a get together with several people who had been to Alpha and Omega and some other friends. We had 30 here. What a wonderful, blessed time of fellowship.

Special Pizza Day for Unchurched Friends

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We pray and hope that you have had a wonderful, blessed month. We have had a great month with lots of activity at the church.
We had a special friends’ pizza day at the main church. The goal was to bring friends that were not church people to the special day. What was wonderful was that several people got involved in putting things together and helping serve the pizza. The youth help make the pizzas and help serve pizza and drinks. We had lots of people that came. There were around 200 people there. Then we also had Mother’s Day supper. That special day is put together by the fathers and the kids. That was also great. We had mothers who came from the Ubim mission. We had a sermon first then worship while the food was being served. It was fantastic.
This month, the Lord willing, we will start back working on the church building of Cacau and the camp. We have had lots of rain which makes it difficult to work outdoors. Now the rainy season is slowing down which helps.
We are also in process of training some new people to take over the mission at the village of Multirão. Kathy started there, and after a year, a group from Manaus took over the ministry. They were there for 9 years. They informed us that they are moving so they are turning over the mission back to us. So, for the next month while they get ready to move, we are taking different adults and youth to see who will take over the mission. Pray that God will place the people that will take over with a passion for God and ministry.
We want to thank each one of you for your prayers and support. You are an important part in our ministry. May God bless each one of you.
Love in our Lord and Savior,
Odali and Kathy Barros

A Wonderful Month + Fruit of BFM

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This month has been a wonderful month with many wonderful moments in our ministry. We pray and hope you all have had a wonderful month also.
We are working more and more to help our members work together and have more fellowship. Since everyone lives far away from each other it is great to have fellowship. This week a lady in our church wanted to have a thanksgiving dinner and service. We had the service. A husband who also went wanted to have a surprise happy birthday for his wife. The time together was wonderful.
There is a man who has a tourist business. Every year at the end of the season he has a thanksgiving service with all his workers and their families. He invites us every year. We always try to go. It is a wonderful time of fellowship. What is so wonderful also is that the pastor of the church there is fruit of Baptist Faith Missions. The first pastor there was Bro. Hatcher and the father of the pastor who is there now. One of the ladies who was there was saved when Bro. Hatcher was preaching. God continues blessing BFM. May this ministry continue reaching lost souls.
This Sunday we did something totally different with the Sunday school group. We had Sunday School at our house. We have lakes that have fish. So, we had our study by one of them and everyone went to the lake to fish for their lunch. Everyone had fun and caught enough fish for lunch. Then we went and prepared lunch. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the time for fellowship. Kathy and I thank God for this land we live on and the area that can be used for fellowship with others.
The camp we are building is coming along. We already have three buildings covered. We can already use it for a day together. As we can, we will close the building to have camp.
We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. God continues to bless our lives and ministry and giving us wisdom and strength each day.
Love in Christ our Savior,
Odali and Kathy Barros

Blessed with a New Helper in Ubim

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Hope each of you have had a wonderful, blessed month. We have had a wonderful month. Kathy is really happy and feeling blessed. One of the ladies of the church who moved near us now is helping her with the ministry in Ubim. She is really great with preschool-aged kids and is really dedicated in what she does. Pray that God will continue blessing her as she is preparing some others to help.
On Carnival day this year we went to the friend of ours who has a farm on an island. We hadn’t been there for quite a while. We had planned on using our camp that we were making but we didn’t get the things done enough to be able to be used. So, we went across the river. He has a boat and came to get us. We had about 40-50 who went with us, and we had a wonderful time.
The camp is coming along well. We have two buildings under roof and are working on the third building. What we would like to do is to get the creek where it could be used to swim. That’s what people enjoy doing with the hot weather here. We also want to fix the field to play volleyball and soccer. Very soon, we will be able to be able to use it more often since it’s really close to where we are and to where everybody else is from the church in the neighborhood. So, the Lord willing, pretty soon we will be able to use it more often just to have special activities for the church families and youth. Since it’s rainy season right now there are things we can’t do all the time. But as we can get things done the sun comes out, we’re working on different projects. So, we hope that soon we’ll be able to do more things and finish the projects.
Thank you for your support and your prayers and pray that we’ll be able to do more things and finish the projects we have started.
Thanks for your prayers and support.
Love in Christ,
Odali and Kathy Barros

Ministering to Street People in Manaus
Posted on 16Jan CATEGORIES: General, Letters, Odali & Kathy Barros [Brazil] Tags:Tags: baptism, Cacau, church construction, construction, fellowship, Kathy Barros, leftovers, ministry, Odali Barros, street people0

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We pray and hope that all of you have had a blessed beginning to a new year. Things are going well here. Thanks for your prayers and support.
We had a great New Year’s Day dinner at church. After the dinner, I told the church that we were going to take all the food that was leftover to the street people in a plaza in Manaus. They all agreed. I went the next day with a group and we gave out several plates of food. We plan on doing this more times.
We have several new families coming to our church. The population is growing on this side of the river. What is great is that they are getting involved in the church ministries. Our fellowship meals have been wonderful. More couples are getting involved. It makes a great time for fellowship and also to talk about ministry.
We have started the next building at the camp. With this being rainy season, things are a little slower. Also, we plan on getting back to the church of Cacau. There we need to raise the floor. We have to take quite a few truckloads of dirt, then spread it out so we can concrete it. With the rain, that slows the work down. Since the church is right on the edge of the street, we can’t put too much dirt on the sidewalk. As the dirt is being dumped, we have to have workers put it inside the church. The Lord willing, we can get that done soon.
We have had several saved. The Lord willing, we will have baptism in the new baptistry. We used to baptize at the lake. Now the church has built a baptistry.
May God bless each of you. Thanks for your prayers and support. You are an important part of the ministry God has called us to do.
Love in Christ,
Odali and Kathy Barros
